Double Ram Truck Recalls Make For Rocky Start to 2019

Mar 19, 2019

Are there two new Ram truck auto recalls?

“Guts. Glory. Ram.” is one slogan attached to Ram trucks. But with the headaches 2019 has already brought, some might suggest the slogan be “Guts. Glory. Recall.”

Timothy J. Abeel & Associates have learned of two separate problems in different Ram trucks that have led to two auto recalls.

The first recall affects 220,000 new 2019 Ram 1500 trucks that are equipped with adjustable brake pedals because “an internal investigation determined the brake pedals can detach when the pedals are moved to the rear positions”. The recall reportedly only includes 2019 Ram 1500 trucks that are equipped with adjustable brake pedals. And the automaker claims no crashes or injuries were reportedly caused by the brake pedals falling off to its knowledge.

“More than a third” of the Ram truck 1500 vehicles subject to this recall haven’t left the dealerships yet, which should make processing the recall-recommended repairs somewhat easier. Owners are urged not to use the adjustable brake pedal feature until the recall repair is completed.

Unlike the first recall, there reportedly has been “reports of crashes and one injury possibly related” to the second Ram auto recall. This one affects 600,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks from years 2013-2017. These heavy-duty trucks, pick-ups, and chassis cabs contain “a steering linkage nut bracket [that] could come loose” and leave the truck’s driver unable to steer it.

It’s unfortunate for the automaker that both Ram truck recalls come at about the same time. Included in the two recalls are certain models with certain features, but may include:

  • 2013-2017 Ram 3500 heavy-duty trucks
  • 2014-2017 Ram 2500 pickups and 3500 chassis cab
  • 2019 Ram 1500 trucks

These two new problems are just the latest in a history of other Dodge Ram truck lemon law claims and/or auto recalls.
