Ford Settles Fiesta/Focus Class Action Lawsuit
Ford Motor Co. recently settled a class action lawsuit involving 2011-2016 Ford Fiestas and 2012-2016 Ford Focuses. The automaker has agreed to provide substantial cash payments and other benefits to owners and lessees of about 1.5 million of these vehicles which had to be repaired for allegedly malfunctioning Dual Clutch/PowerShift Transmissions. The defect caused the vehicles to slip, buck, kick or jerk while accelerating.
Some vehicles required multiple software and hardware repairs to correct the problem, and because of backlogs, some owners experienced extended delays lasting weeks or months. Under the settlement, members of the class will receive cash payouts based on the number of repairs or the option to receive a significant discount toward the purchase of a new Ford vehicle.
